2023 Year in Review - Vail Pickleball
2023 continued to be a robust year for the Vail Pickleball program. It also marked the first year with Ben Moore as the Director of Pickleball. Under Ben's leadership, a number of changes took place to summer play at the Golden Peak Pickleball Center, including:
- The addition of Level Open Play, including signage to help direct players to the appropriate court for their level
- New clinics including Intro to Pickleball, Ladies Social, DUPR Day, Advanced DUPR Day, Challenge the Pros and more
- Drafting and enforcing a Pickleball Code of Conduct as well as Etiquette & Safety Guidelines, which aimed to to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all court users
- Last but certainly not least, the introduction of a new motto at the courts: Be Kind!

The Intro to Pickleball clinics hosted 85 new players over the summer.

153 youth players participated in 2023 junior pickleball camps.

CAROL JOHNSON
During the summer of 2023, pickleball player Carol Johnson released a monthly pickleball newsletter, featuring helpful information, friendly reminders, a Player of the Month and a weekly schedule.
This newsletter was a great way to keep our pickleball users up to date during the busy season and we hope to continue the newsletter in 2024 and beyond. Carol has also been a great help with getting pickleball-related messages out through social media.
