Race Info 

Named best trail race by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2006 and 2011, the Dynafit Vail HillClimb tests local, regional and national runners with a seven mile climb from Vail Village to Mid-Vail.

The Dynafit Vail HillClimb will begin at 7 a.m. in Vail Village - next to Vail's Mountain Haus - and finish at Mid-Vail ascending over 2,200 vertical feet.

The Gondola will be available for downloading after the race.

Course Info 

Race participants will follow the historic gravel double-track route that has made this race a favorite among trail running enthusiasts.

Elevation Gain 

Approximately 2,233 vertical feet over 7.7 miles.

Aid Stations 

There are three aid stations on course at mile markers 2.2, 4 and 6. In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we have gone cupless! Please bring your own hydration system to refill with water or Skratch Labs hydration mix.

Pre-Race Bib Pickup Info 

Racers can pick up their race numbers or register ahead of time on Friday, July 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Vail's Mountain Haus.

Race day bib pickup will also be available Vail's Mountain Haus adjacent to the covered bridge from 6 to 6:50 a.m. Due to the early morning start we HIGHLY recommend you pick up your bib or register Friday afternoon.

Race Cost 

Individual Rates: $38 pre-registration, $45 week-of registration, $55 day-of registration

Student Rates (ages 13-17): $25 pre-registration, $30 week-of registration, $37 day-of registration

Vail Resorts Release Of Liability Form 

All Beaver Creek Summer Solstice Trail Race participants must sign and return the Vail Resorts Release of Liability Form to participate in the Trail Race. To save you time, you can print the form and bring it with you to bib pickup.

Please park in the Vail Village parking structure. Parking is free in the summer!

Awards Categories & Prizes 
  • Awards will be presented at the race finish.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three males and females in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

In an effort to ensure a variety of participants can enjoy and benefit from our partnership with Dynafit, participants that routinely podium will receive no more than two of the same 1st place prize. 

All racers will receive a custom designed t-shirt (either cotton or tech material) at the race finish, and all racers are entered into a raffle for great prizes from our sponsors!

If you have family and friends who want to cheer you on at the finish line, please pick up passes for them at bib pickup. They must be on the gondola between 7-7:30 a.m. sharp.  After 7:30 a.m. they would need to wait until the gondola opens to the public at 9:30 a.m. and purchase a ticket.

Trail Running Series Recognized By American Trail Running Association
