Vail Grail Winter Race Series

Need motivation for those new years' resolutions? Get ready to skin, shift and shuffle your way to glory! Join the Vail Recreation District for the all new Vail Grail Winter Race Series and stay fit this snow season. The Vail Grail is a new championship series consisting of three winter events – an uphill at Vail Mountain, a fat tire bike race and a snowshoe shuffle - and participants can sign up for one, two or all three races. Racers who complete all three races have a shot at winning the coveted Vail Grail, a permanent trophy that will bear the male and female division winners' names for years to come.


Cocktails & Canvas: Chocolate Making

Learn how to make delectable chocolates! Join us on Thursday, February 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for an evening of decadent fun. You’ll be guided by Felicia from Cornerstone Chocolates to make your own confections. Take home a handmade chocolate lollipop and a small box of chocolates.

This event takes place in the Community Programming Room, located on the second floor of the Lionshead Welcome Center.

VRD Holiday Hours

The Vail Recreation District offices and departments will be closed as follows during the upcoming holidays:

- VRD Administration Office will be closed Dec. 21-26 and Dec. 28-Jan. 1. 

- Vail Gymnastics Center will be closed to recreational classes Dec. 26-30, regular programming will resume Jan. 2.

- Dobson Ice Arena will be closed at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and all day Dec. 25.

- Community Programming, including the Imagination Station, will be closed Dec. 24-25. There will be no pottery or children’s art on Dec. 21, 23, 26-27, 30 and Jan. 2.

- Vail Nordic Center will have reduced hours from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 25.

KidZone Winter Break Camp

Keep your children busy and happpy this Winter Break! Register for the KidZone Winter Break Camp, from Dec. 21 to Jan. 2. The camp is based out of the Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium in Vail, where kids will engage in a variety of fun activities and go on winter outings throughout the valley.
