Zeke M. Pierce Vail Skatepark

Open Skate |  Summer Youth Camps

Enter the Lionshead Parking structure after the snow melts and you’ll doubtless hear the unmistakable sound of wheels on concrete. Sequestered in a gap at the heart of the structure, look over the edge and you'll see skaters enjoying the street features with tranny and flow in this one-of-a-kind skatepark.

The facility was born out of the local skate scene, the brainchild of a high school student who saw potential in the previously unused space. With his and other local skaters’ input, the area was transformed by California Skateparks into a $1.7 million facility complete with a signature “vert” feature, mini-bowl and full-size halfpipe. It includes features for all ages and abilities and includes a large variety of street and transition style elements.

The skatepark is open every day in summer from dawn to 11 p.m., weather permitting. It is closed in the winter and whenever snow is present. Helmets are required; knee pads and wrist guards are recommended.

Cameron Chaney, the high school student who originated the idea for the skatepark, named it for his friend and fellow skateboarder Zeke M. Pierce, who lost his life in a mountain bike accident.

Zeke M. Pierce Vail Skatepark Highlights:
