Alice Plain, PGA
Director of Golf
Alice grew up in South Bend, IN, where she was introduced to golf through her father. Golf has always been a large part of her life. She played on a men’s team at Hanover College in southern Indiana before transferring to Oklahoma State University to play golf for the Cowgirls. Alice graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, and moved to the Vail Valley immediately after graduation. Over the past 15 years as the Director of Golf at the Vail Golf Club, she has helped expand junior golf programming and ladies’ programs.
Alice welcomes students who are dealing with neurological diseases; she can relate as she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2006. She has taught many individuals with both physical and neurological disabilities.
In 2021, Alice was selected as the Colorado PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year. She has won many awards over her 25 years as a PGA Professional, but none as special as this award. Alice enjoys the mountain lifestyle and has many interests including skiing, mountain and road biking, hiking, ski touring and mountaineering.

Trey Johnson, PGA
Head Golf Professional
Trey was born and raised in Littleton, CO. He attended the University of Nevada in Las Vegas and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management, with a concentration in professional golf management. Trey is in his eighth season with the Vail Golf Club. He is heavily involved with all areas of the operation including junior golf programming, merchandising, day-to-day operations and private and group adult instruction programs.
In 2018, Trey was selected by his peers as the Assistant Professional of the Year for the West Chapter of the Colorado PGA Section. In 2020, he was selected as the Youth Development Award Winner by those same peers for the West Chapter of the Colorado PGA Section.

In his free time, Trey likes to spend his time outdoors, whether that be on his mountain bike, running or on a pair of skis. Trey has also played ice hockey since the age of five, and continues to be an avid hockey player!
George Hart, PGA
Golf Professional
George was born in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He graduated from Brandon High School in Tampa. He then attended the University of Alabama, graduating in 1980. After several years of training at golf clubs in the Birmingham area, he became a PGA member in 1998.
George is in his seventh season with the Vail Golf Club. His responsibilities include overseeing large group play, setting up tournaments and running the men’s league.

George’s wife is a teacher at Battle Mountain High School, and his son is Airbourne in the U.S. Army. He also is a proud grandfather to Scarlett.
Jacob Tilmann
Golf Course Superintendent
Jacob is from the small town of Beal City (The Real City), MI. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in commercial recreation and facilities management. He also attended and received a Certificate of Turfgrass from University of California - Riverside.
Jacob has held the titles of intern, second assistant, first assistant, interim golf course superintendent and now golf course superintendent at the Vail Golf Club. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations of golf course maintenance. As superintendent, he is very proud of the team atmosphere and commitment that the golf maintenance staff have shown.
In his spare time, Jacob enjoys golfing, hiking and ice fishing. He also loves to design, craft and build keepsakes for family members.
