VRD offers Mile High Mites, Mini Mites, Mites and a Girls Only program where youth will learn the fundamentals of ice hockey through fun and educational instruction and enjoy an introduction to competition.
Mini Mites U6 Learn to Play (2016 and 2017 birth years)
Mini Mites will learn the fundamentals of ice hockey through fun and educational instruction and enjoy an introduction to competition. A couple of weekends each season will include scheduled games at the Eagle Ice Rink. Dobson Ice Arena offers rental equipment available for $50 on a first-come, first-served basis. Designed to encourage interest and confidence in the sport for both novice skaters and those with experience, this program is available for boys and girls ages 9 and older. Brand-new players as well as those that may have aged out of our Mite program and are not ready for a travel schedule. Colorado Avalanche Mile High Mites Learn to Play Hockey
This Program Is Full. We may run another in the spring of 2023.
A great introductory program for any kids looking to join our Mini Mite or Mite programs, Dobson Ice Arena runs this program in conjunction with the Colorado Avalanche, NHL and NHLPA.Learn to Play is open to boys and girls ages four to ten years old. This program is offered to players that are not currently on a team and registration is based on that criteria. While not a prerequisite to our other hockey programs, this is a great way to get a full set of equipment and an introduction to the sport in a fun environment. Registration cost includes a full set of brand new hockey equipment - skates, a Mile High Mites stick, Mile High Mites jersey, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, shin guards, elbow pads, and pants - plus six, one-hour, on-ice sessions. Upon completion of the Learn to Play program, participants will be able to keep their equipment.
Fall 2022 Season: Sept. 15 to Oct. 4.
Times: 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Cost: $229 per player (includes a full set of hockey equipment!)
