Important Announcement

Updated March 25: The Vail Recreation District's top priority is the safety and well-being of our residents, guests and employees.

In cooperation with the updated Eagle County Public Health Order plus the Colorado Statewide Stay at Home Order, and in the effort to prevent community spread of COVID-19 and to protect our most vulnerable populations, the Vail Recreation District (VRD) is canceling all programs and events, and closing all VRD facilities, effective March 13 until at least April 16, 2020.

This includes all open gyms, youth sports programs, adult leagues, lessons and clinics, walk-in sports and activities, and private rentals and events.

All VRD facilities will be closed to the public until further notice, including the Imagination Station, Dobson Arena and Vail Gymnastics Center. The Vail Nordic Center pro shop and restaurant are now closed for the season, and we are no longer grooming the trails. If you need to return season rentals, please call 970-476-8366.

With the announced closure of local schools, VRD has made the difficult decision to cancel our after-school program (KidZone) starting on Monday, March 16 until classes resume at Red Sandstone Elementary School.

For questions, please contact the respective department or facility listed here. Please understand that staffing will be limited during this time, and responses may be delayed.

IMPROVED! Challenger International Soccer Camps:

Registration for soccer camps must be done through the Challenger website: .  Thank you.

For many years our British Soccer and TetraBrazil camp programs were delivered exclusively by British and Brazilian coaches and our coaching material was heavily influenced by those countries. However, the recent World Cup demonstrated to us all just how well developed the game is globally and it is now time to provide players in the US and Canada with the very best coaching methods and practices from world’s most influential soccer playing nations.

The Challenger International Soccer Camp will feature a number of new elements in the curriculum and will also include a ground breaking technology feature providing players with an app based platform which will help them prepare before camp, learn skills quicker and more efficiently during the camp, and then help them to continue their education and skill development with camp homework and on-going virtual training throughout their season.

“After many years of delivering industry leading camps for youth players, we are excited to adapt our coaching methodology to cater to the way that today’s children take in new information and assimilate it. We have created a compelling blend of on-field instruction and off-field engagement that will encourage players to practice and improve.”

Soccer at all levels is increasingly being played at a greater speed and new demands are being placed on players to react, move, and perform skills whilst under pressure from opponents. Players must be capable of quicker controlled movements on and off the ball and must be able to think faster and make split second decisions.

The Next Level method of training includes: speed of play, fast foot skills, first touch, advanced techniques, freestyle, strength & conditioning, attacking moves, finishing and small-sided games. The Next Level program will be integrated with Challenger’s iChallenge training app which will help players develop skills and creativity both pre and post camp. Our team of Next Level coaches provide competitive players with a challenging and highly personal developmental experience.

Players attending this program must be committed to want to improve and must be prepared to push themselves beyond their comfort zone.
