IMPORTANT UPDATE: The health and safety of our participants, staff, volunteers, spectators and host families is our highest priority, therefore the difficult decision has been made to cancel the 2020 Vail Pickleball Open (VPO) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year's tournament had 240 participants, plus tournament staff and referees, and 400-500 spectators daily during the pro matches. This year's tournament already had 194 players registered from 20 different states and three countries, with substantial waiting lists for many of the divisions. Many of the top pros in the world were returning for this year's event.

Eagle County Public Health Department has indicated that any tournaments that include athletes from outside of Eagle County may not be approved for the duration of the 2020 summer season, and most other major summer events in Vail have already been canceled, including the Bravo! Vail Music Festival, the Vail Dance Festival and the GoPro Mountain Games.

The decision to cancel now has been made to give participants ample opportunity to change travel plans with minimal penalties. For those players who have already paid their fees for the 2020 VPO, we will be giving full refunds.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Vail for the 2021 Vail Pickleball Open.

IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION:

The Golden Peak Pickleball Center in Vail has very limited parking (eight spots), and as such we encourage all tournament participants and spectators to leave plenty of extra time to find alternate parking and walk to the courts. Do not plan on parking on-site, as it is very unlikely that there will be space available. There is also no parking available in the surrounding neighborhood - the closest public parking to the pickleball center is in the Vail Village Parking Structure (free during the day and a five-minute walk to the courts).

Remember, there is very limited parking at the pickleball center, do not expect to be able to park on-site. Please plan ahead and leave yourself plenty of time to get to the courts. Matches will not be postponed or rescheduled due to parking or transportation issues, and latecomers may forfeit their match.
