Registration fills quickly for the Vail Recreation District's youth summer sports camps, so sign up early! Camps provide children ages four and older with an opportunity to develop new skills and refine existing talents in baseball, basketball, sports training, lacrosse, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, tennis, soccer and more.

Colorado State University Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert will lead participants in individual skills training during the three-day camp. Grades second through sixth will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and grades seventh through 12th will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costs are $160 for grades seventh through 12th and $60 for grades second through sixth. Participants will learn new baseball skills and build on natural talents during this five-day camp. Led by Colorado State University Pueblo coach Stan Sanchez, this is a fantastic opportunity for players of all ability levels. Children ages six and older may attend the half day sessions, but participants must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Call 970-479-2280.

Youth Martial Arts Camps    | June 18 to 22, July 23 to 27 and Aug. 6 to 10   | 
These camps will introduce children ages five to 12 to all aspects of martial arts. Offered for all ability levels and operated by Vail Martial Arts Academy instructor Mathew Bayley, they include instruction on all major Japanese, Korean, Chinese and American martial arts. Instruction also covers the national, award-winning Alert Kids Kidnap Prevention Program. The camp takes place from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $150 per child. Call 970-949-8121 for details.

Vail Gymnastics Camp | June- August | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (bring lunch)   |  Cost $225  | 

These week-long summer camps are for children ages five and older and will not only include gymnastics, but also outdoor adventures such as hiking, visiting local parks and excursions to Dobson Ice Arena, Vail Nature Center and more. Children will be grouped according to age and skill level. The Competitive Team Camps will take place June 17-21, July 22-26 and Aug. 12-16. Public and Pre-Team Camps will take place June 24-28 and Aug. 5-9. The Public Camps are scheduled for July 8-12, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 19-23. This multi-sport program was developed to give children ages 4 to 7 a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Games and activities are designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand-eye coordination and skill development at their own pace. Skyhawks staff are trained to handle the specific needs of young athletes. All participants receive a T-shirt and a merit award. The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 8:1. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes and sunscreen.

Location: EagleVail Soccer Field
Lacrosse combines some of the basic skills used in soccer, basketball, and hockey into one fast-paced, high-scoring game. Athletes will learn all the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting in a fun, non-checking environment. Our staff helps campers learn not only the sport of lacrosse, but also important life skills such as respect, teamwork, and discipline. Designed for ages 7 to 14, this camp ensures that every athlete will come away with a deep understanding of the game and its traditions. 
Sport-Specific Requirements:
All participants receive a T-shirt and a merit award. The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 12:1. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, a lunch and snack (for programs four hours or less) or two snacks (for programs over four hours), a water bottle, running shoes, a mouthguard, protective gloves, a helmet with full mask (or goggles for girls lacrosse), a lacrosse stick, and sunscreen. *Limited lacrosse kits available for online rental. The beach volleyball camp is ideal for players who are looking to either learn the sport of beach volleyball or improve their skills. Players will be grouped according to ability with a maximum of 10 players per coach. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. for grades ninth through 12th and cost is $125 per player. Northern Edge Ice Hockey Goal Scoring Camp |  July 17-21 | Ages Six to 17 | Dobson Ice Arena, Vail 
Northern Edge Hockey is the premier hockey school in the industry. Now in its 20th year,  they have a low instructor-to-student ratio with attention to the smallest details to ensure players not only learn the most, but also have a great time. Dobson Arena hosts an exciting youth hockey camp every July. Now in its 27th year, Bob Johnson Hockey School has become as annual reason for many families to vacation in Vail in the summer. The camp focuses on the fundamentals of hockey and offers three hours of on-ice instruction with an additional hour of instruction off the ice. Coaches include Mark Johnson, head coach of the 2010 Women's Olympic Ice Hockey team silver medalist and also a player on the 1980 Olympic Team who pulled off the Miracle on Ice.

This camp is for all levels of players whether they're a mite-level or in high school. you have 1 year of active playing under your belt). Pro Ambition instructors are the masters of "Circuit Training" and small area games, allowing kids to always be moving and being corrected. This camp focuses on improving players' shooting techniqe to give participants an edge needed in a competitive basketball environment. Skyhawks Flag Football Camps teach the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging, as well as defensive positioning -- while delivering fun and exciting action. Each camp is organized into training environments that are designed to prepare kids to be champions both on and off the field and conclude with the Skyhawks Bowl, an exhilarating and action packed game that gives campers a chance to show off their skills.

Vail Tennis Center Youth Tennis Camps    |  June 10 - Aug. 23 |   Monday to Friday 1 to 4 p.m.  |     Location: Vail Tennis Center
Junior Tennis Camps will take participant's tennis skills to the next level. Junior tennis lessons will take place Monday through Friday from from 8 to 9 a.m. for teens, 9 to 10 a.m. for ages five to six, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages seven to nine and 11 a.m. to noon for ages 10 through 12. Lessons will take place June 10-14, June 17-21, July 1-5, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2, Aug. 5-9, Aug. 12-16 and Aug. 19-23. Cost is $65 per week, per participant. Camps will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 24-28, July 1-5, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-9. PGA Tour Academy Youth Junior Golf Overnight Camp  |   June 23-27   |   Ages 12 to 18 years   |

This golf-intensive program is complete with seminars, guest speakers, video analysis and on-course instruction. There will be additional focus on the mental aspect of the game, as well as proper practice routines, tournament preparation and opportunities for college golf. Students will begin early with range instruction and warm-up. After lunch, each camper will play 18 holes alongside The TOUR Academy instructors, who will provide course instruction to improve each golfer's game. Vail Golf Club Two-Day and Three-Day Junior Golf Camps  |  June-August | Registration  Location: Vail Golf Club 
The Vail Golf Club will be offering two-day and three-day beginner camps June 18-19, July 30-31 and July 2-4. Three-day intermediate camps will be offered July 1-3, July 9-11 and July 23-25. A new advanced three-day camp is scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 1. Costs are $59 for the two-day camps, $89 for the three-day camps and $119 for the three-day advanced camps. The two-day and three-day camps are for ages six to 17 and will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.
