Registration for Learn to Skate; Freestyle Jumps and Spins, Mini Mite and Mite Hockey at Dobson Ice Arena is underway offering skaters ages four to 14 an opportunity to learn the sport or enhance their skating skills.

Introduction to Girls' Youth Hockey   |   Registration Form
The first-of-its-kind to be offered in the Vail Valley, the Introduction to Girls' Hockey Program is a pioneer in girls' development programs. Designed to encourage interest and confidence in the sport for both novice skaters and those with experience, it is available for girls in kindergarten through fourth grade. Classes take place from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays. The cost is $150 per participant. Free rental equipment will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each skater will receive a program jersey. It's highly recommended that all participants complete at least one session of Learn to Skate before participating in hockey.

Learn to Skate is perfect for children ages four and older who are interested in learning the basics of either figure or ice hockey skating. Sessions take place from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. or 4:15 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and last a month. Levels one, two and three will be available at both times, while levels four and five are only offered at 4:15 p.m. The cost is $60 a session. The schedule for 2012/13 is:

Jr. Prep, Jumps and Spins   |      Must Pass Basic Level 6        |        Registration Form
An extension of the basic skills class that will teach advanced tricks and skills to help take participants' skating to the next level. Skaters ages six and older must pass the basic level 6 to participate. This class offers participants 30 minutes of instruction followed by 60 minutes of freestyle skating. Classes take place from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. on Mondays and cost is $100 for the session. The schedule for 2012/13 is:

VRD Mini Mite and Mite Hockey    |      5 to 8 Years    |     Registration Form
Mini Mites (ages five and six) and Mites (ages seven andeight) will learn the fundamentals of ice hockey through fun and educational instruction and enjoy an introduction to competition. Both groups practice from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Thursdays and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays.  Two weekends out of the season will include scheduled games at the Eagle Ice Rink. Equipment rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Costs are $150 for one season or $250 for both seasons. Register for both seasons before October 6 and also receive an additional $25 discount, compliments of the Vail Eagle Hockey Association. The schedule for 2012/13 is:

Children can enjoy story hour at the Town of Vail Library followed by skating at Dobson Ice Arena at either 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. on Wednesdays. Story hour is free and skating time is $10 per child for skates and instruction. Call 970-479-2271 for details.

Vail Eagle Hockey Association
The Vail Eagle Hockey Association (VEHA) is a youth hockey organization dedicated to teaching the sport of ice hockey through the principals of fair play, respect and sportsmanship with an emphasis on fun, the development of character and the individual potential of hockey players in a safe and healthy environment. Its charter is to provide youth hockey opportunities for all ability levels in the Eagle County area for boys and girls. Our teams include both competitive travel teams and recreational in-house.  VEHA works closely with the VRD for ice time at Dobson in Vail and to provide coaches for VRD in-house programs.
