Summer Day Camps | Registration | 2013 Information
The VRD’s youth summer camps feature hands-on learning about the natural environment, adventure-packed days with activities like rafting, caving and arts and crafts, golf, gymnastics, ice skating and more. All camps fill on a first-come, first-served basis and early registration is encouraged.
Summer Sports Camps | Online Registration | Information
Throughout the summer, the VRD hosts an array of youth sports camps including volleyball, lacrosse, golf, ice hockey, soccer, gymnastics, figure skating, baseball and basketball, plus sports training camps. Additionally, during the spring and fall, the VRD manages a youth soccer league for ages four through 13.

KidZone meets after school and on designated no-school days. Through sports, gym games, playground activities, arts and crafts, group games and homework help, KidZone's staff provides an experience full of creativity and learning. Programs take place at Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium and cafeteria. VRD Youth Services offers School’s Out Camp during spring, winter and various breaks throughout the school year. The camps also take place at Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium, with drop-off from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and pick-up from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $46 per student or $36 for Eagle County students. The Gymnastics Center partners with Master Mathew Bayley and the Vail Academy of Martial Arts to provide martial arts instruction for both children and adults.
Early Childhood Programs | Ages 2 to 5 | Information
Young children, from toddlers to preschoolers, have plenty of activities to keep them stimulated through VRD's Youth Services. From Art for the Young Child class, to gymnastics, to childcare activities customized personally by a parent, VRD offers nurturing care and programs that awaken young minds.
The Imagination Station, a thoughtful play space, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days per week. The Imagination Station is for children ages two to 12 and their families, and its new features include a play wall to integrate physical and cognitive learning; a light table and builder boards that inspire problem-solving development and dexterity; a hyperbolic funnel that models planetary motion; and a new Mad Scientist's Lab where children can make slime, "gak" and other messy projects. The marble wall also will be back with a more user-friendly design. Costs per child are $5 per day, $10 per week, $20 per month or $40 a year. Family memberships are available for $30 per month or $60 per year for unlimited visits. Adults and children under two are free.
Vail’s Imagination Station is conveniently located above the Vail Welcome Center at the southwest end of the LionsHead parking structure. It is accessible via the LionsHead stop on the in-town Vail Village/LionsHead bus. Youth Mountain Bike Racing | Ages 8 and Older | Information | Online Registration
The VRD offers children eight and older an opportunity to race in its Youth Mountain Bike Race Series. Races take place on select Wednesdays throughout the summer and allow children to race with some of the best racers in the Vail Valley and beyond. Children must bring their own bicycle and wear a helmet.
Skateboard Clinics | Information
Children ages seven to 14 can learn or refine their skateboarding skills at the Vail Skatepark, located on top of the LionsHead parking structure during the summer. Clinics take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays throughout the summer. Cost is $25 or $20 for Vail residents. Skateboard and helmets are required, and wrist guards and kneepads recommended.
