The Golden Peak Pickleball Center in Vail has very limited parking (eight spots), and as such we encourage all tournament participants and spectators to leave plenty of extra time to find alternate parking and walk to the courts. Do not plan on parking on-site, as it is very unlikely that there will be space available. There is also no parking available in the surrounding neighborhood - the closest public parking to the pickleball center is in the Vail Village Parking Structure (free during the day and a five-minute walk to the courts).

Important! On Thursday and Friday, the pickleball tournament will share the town with the Colorado Classic professional bike race, and this means a number of roads around town will be closed to motor vehicle traffic, and the parking structures will fill quickly. Thursday will see riders racing a circuit that will go through (and close) many roads in Vail, including directly past the Pickleball Center. Friday is a time trial that will feature individual riders racing through town and up Vail Pass. Thursday will be the most difficult day for getting around town, and the Pickleball Center parking lot will be completely closed along with all of Vail Valley Drive. If you have a match on Thursday, we recommend a few different options:

  1. If you are driving in from the west, there will be a FREE ECO Regional Transit express shuttle bus running every 15 minutes from the Edwards Park ‘n Ride at Freedom Park to the Vail Transportation Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Edwards is 15 miles west of Vail. We believe this will be the best way to get into town on Thursday. The pickleball courts are then only a five-minute walk from the Vail Transportation Center. This express bus is in addition to ECO’s regular routes that will also be running to the Vail Transportation Center from many different locations throughout the Vail Valley ($4 per ride for regular routes). Visit or call 970-328-3531 for more information.

  2. If you want to park in Vail, you must plan on getting to town early to find parking. The Lionshead parking structure will be closed to all inbound and outbound vehicles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the circuit race on Thursday, Aug. 16, so you must be parked by 9 a.m. (or earlier if the structure fills) and plan on staying in town until at least 3 p.m. The Vail Village parking structure will be open, but town officials expect it to fill by 8 a.m. that day, if not earlier. Overflow parking will be taking place until 11 p.m. on the North and South Frontage Roads and will be serviced by Vail Transit. The Ford Park parking lot will be closed both days to accommodate staging of the race teams. On-street neighborhood parking will be prohibited on race days unless otherwise noted by variable message signs. For more information, visit

  3. If you’re staying in Vail, plan on walking to the courts or take a Vail Transit bus to the Vail Transportation Center and walk from there. Vail Transit will have modified routes on Thursday and Friday to accommodate the race course and road closures. For details, visit

On Friday, access to both the Lionshead and Vail Village parking structures will be operating as usual, but the town will still be very busy with race spectators, so these parking structures will still fill quickly. Plan on getting to town early or taking public transportation on Friday as well.

On WednesdaySaturday and Sunday, there should be more parking availability in both of the town parking structures, but still leave plenty of extra time to find parking and to walk or take the in-town bus to the Pickleball Center.

Remember, there is very limited parking at the pickleball center, do not expect to be able to park on-site. Please plan ahead and leave yourself plenty of time to get to the courts. Matches will not be postponed or rescheduled due to parking or transportation issues, and latecomers may forfeit their match.

For more information on the race, please visit the Town of Vail tips page or the Colorado Classic bike race website.
