Q Can I register at the race?
A Yes, You can register at all of our races ‘the-day-of’ the event. There is an added fee for registering ‘the-day-of’, and you must register between 4 to 5:30 pm at the race location. You can save money by Pre-registering for the races by Fax or at our office, as long as the form is in by the Monday prior to the event.
Q Do you have any online registration?
A No, at this time we do not have any online registration. We are currently working on a new webpage where you will be able to register online without having to pay an additional fee. We do not use Active.com because of the added fee charged to riders. We would like to keep or fees low so you enjoy the racing more than the prizes and fees that come with these big money events.
Q Can I register for the entire race series?
A Yes, we encourage all riders to register for the entire race series; you will save time and money by doing this. Save $10 buy pre-registering for the series over the total cost of each event. Also save time by not having to pick-up your race number at every event as well as not have to fill-out a race release form at every event. Did I also mention not having to stand in line to do all of this stuff……
Q I have a 12 yr old who is a strong rider and wants to race a longer race than the 8 to 12 category?
A Any rider can race in the next older category, a 10 yr old can race in the 13 to 18 category. The ages are based on the idea of skill not age, so if you would like to race a different age fine one that uites your ability not just your age. Like wise a junior rider can race with the adults if they feel they would like more competition, may of the more serious young riders do this.
Q If I am a Junior and I race with the adults do I have to pay the adult registration?
A A junior rider only has to pay for the Junior fee unless you are racing in the Pro or Expert category. Then because you are racing for cash prizes you then would need to pay the regular registration fee.
Q Do I keep my number from the last race?
A Yes, if you are registered for the entire race series you will keep you hard plate, this is your number plate for the entire year. Even if you change categories you will still use the same number plate.
Q Can I change categories, and what happens to my overall points?
A Yes, you can change categories. Your points do not go up with you when you change categories, but you can start getting point as soon as you move up. You can only be in one category for overall title. You will keep your points for the higher category only.
Q When do I have to move up in a category?
A Choosing a category is up to each rider to choose for themselves. If a rider is ‘Sandbagging’ I will ask the rider to move up. It is up to the rider to move themselves up. I will only suggest a rider should move up if there times are comparable to the time of the next higher category. If there times are not as good as the times in the next category above, and they are still winning races, there is no reason for that rider to move up to the next category. This is a soft rule and I will leave the final decision to each rider to get the best fit for them. SAFTY first.
Q What happens to my prize if I am not there to pick it up?
A Your prize is raffled off at the end of the night. We are all about rides enjoying the ride and after party, and all prizes except the cash for Pro’s and Experts if raffled off to the racers that stayed for the after party.
Q Do I need to Ride with a helmet?
A Riders will not be allowed on the course without a Certified mountain bike helmet. If this rule is broken the rider will be ask to not comeback to any of our events.
Q Is the VRD Mountain Bike Series a sanctioned NORBA event and do we get NORBA Points?
A No, The VRD Series is not a NORBA event. We provide our own insurance and our own points system for our Race series. This is one of the many ways we keep rider costs down, this also lets more riders participate without putting a burden on them to buy licenses they would not normally need to enjoy mountain biking.
