VRD Mini Mite and Mite Hockey

Parent’s get out your cameras as your child learns basic skills needed to play the game of hockey. This program focuses on the fundamentals of hockey. We make each practice fun and educational for those interested in learning what it takes to play this beautiful game. Games are set up with the Eagle Ice Rink and everyone gets together for a good ole youth hockey game. Equipment can be rented for this program on a first come, first served basis. Practices and games are arranged so the kids can still ski.

VRD Squirt Hockey

This program focuses on furthering the education of the game and giving those kids who are involved in other activities a chance to still play hockey. Don’t want to play travel hockey, don’t worry, this program is for you. Practices and games are set up soothe kids can still ski. Games are played with teams from Eagle and the surrounding area. Rental equipment is also available based on size and availability. 

 

Bob Johnson Hockey School - "REGISTRATION STILL OPEN!!"

Dobson Arena also administers a youth hockey camp every July. This camp is great for all ages. Now in its 24th year, Bob Johnson Hockey School has become as annual reason to vacation in Vail in the summer. The camp focuses on the fundamentals of hockey and offers 3 hours of on ice instruction with another hour off the ice. Coaches include Mark Johnson who played on the 1980 Olympic Team who pulled off the Miracle on Ice.

Vail Eagle Hockey Association

The Vail Eagle Hockey Association (VEHA) has initiated a program that will significantly fund and support youth hockey programs at Dobson Arena, agreeing to subsidize program fees for individual players participating in both Mite and Mini-Mite youth hockey sessions.  Program fees for Mite and Mini-Mite players are currently $150 for one session or $250 for both sessions.  The VEHA will now contribute $75 per player for the first session of Mini-Mite hockey, which begins Oct 16 and is open to children age 5 and 6.  Mite hockey players, age 7 and 8, will be provided with $75 toward their program fees if they register with USA Hockey and provide proof of membership.  Registration for USA Hockey costs $30/annual and provides numerous benefits, including limited insurance coverage.  The VEHA can be reached by visiting www.vaileaglehockey.com, and USA Hockey can be reached by visiting www.usahockey.com.
